The first predecessor of the Aubrey 380 Area Chamber of Commerce appeared
in 1909 with the formation of the Aubrey Commercial Club. According to a
March 20, 1909 newspaper article, “A meeting of the business men of
Aubrey convened Wednesday night for the purpose of organizing a
Commercial club for the promotion of all interests common to Aubrey and
the surrounding country…After some interesting talks, discussing the
necessity, aims, and purposes of the organization, a permanent
organization was effected…”
We do not know how long the Aubrey Commercial Club was in existence,
but we do know that in the late 1980s another group of visionaries came
together “…to advance the general welfare and property of the Greater
Aubrey Area so that its citizens and all areas of its business community
shall prosper…” and on August 17, 1988, the State of Texas approved and
placed on the record the Articles of Incorporation that created the
Greater Aubrey Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc.
From that organization has evolved the current Aubrey 380 Area
Chamber of Commerce, with a mission to be the leader in supporting
growth and economic development while enhancing the quality of life of
the Aubrey 380 Area. The Chamber represents Aubrey, Krugerville, Cross Roads,
Oak Point, Providence Village and the 380 Corridor, with a
population approaching 40,000.
From the early 1900s when the area was known as “Fruit Jar Junction,”
through the years of abundant peanut crops to the explosion of “Horse
Country USA,” the Aubrey 380 Area has become a vibrant and welcoming
place to live, work, play, and grow!
